UK based Box TV and Spotify have joined forces to bring streaming charts to live television.

The new music show, called The Official Box + Streaming Chart, will list the most streamed tracks over a seven day period. The new weekly Top 40 show will air on 4Music every Monday, starting April 14th.

Mark Adams, Music Director at Box TV said: “The popularity of music streaming has grown significantly over the past 18 months and is widely regarded as the new currency for our 16-34 audience and music industry alike.  By partnering with Spotify we will deliver the first ‘Official Streaming’ chart on music TV.  The Official Box+ Streaming Chart will air every week and feature the top 40 most listened- to tracks of the previous seven days.”

Partnerships like this are necessary because it gives a physical voice to the fans. Spotify is one of the most accurate, real time reflections of what music fans are really listening to, and introducing a visual component will only help both brands.
